These paintings, are part of a larger body of work entitled ‘MEMORIAL’, they reflect on the way culture has dealt and deals with loss and its need to commemorate it, by aiming to mummify, preserve, recreate, mark, highlight, explain, narrate and illustrate what is missing. Additionally, painting as a practice, spectacle and object falls in line with the concept of the memorial. Subsequently, the process of making this work is considered as a mummification or memorization of lost space and time.
